Should I Let Microsoft Continue to Control My Computer?

I can actually add a little update here at the top. This article was originally published 2 or 3 years ago. I still don't use Windows, and just last week, one of the freelance writers I know had her laptop blown apart by a faulty windows update, so this is still going on. Arguably, it's not just Windows.  My website was just blown apart due to a faulty software update. This releasing bits and pieces and unfinished software really does have to stop.

 On to the Article

The short answer is – probably not. I don’t recommend that anyone keep using Windows 10. It’s a dangerous piece of software if you need your computer every day, and if you don’t use your computer very often, you could find yourself logging in to the message that you need to update, which means you can’t use your computer while it is updating. In fact, the latter is what kept happening to my mom. Every time she logged into her laptop, it told her she needed to update and commenced the update process. This meant that whatever she intended to do, she could not do, and by the time the computer was finished updating, she had accomplished whatever it was via her smartphone. Her laptop was now useless because of Microsoft’s continuous and severely obnoxious updates.

If you are trying to increase your reach and gain more followers, the last thing you want to see are your follower numbers decreasing. Unfortunately, for numerous reasons, follower numbers can and do decrease. The most likely reason is that Twitter activated its delete account autobot. I’ve had more than 400 followers deleted off my lists over the last three months simply due to Twitter’s delete bot. There’s nothing you can do about this.

The other reason is that you accidentally followed a Follow for an Unfollow Account. I’m sure you’ve seen accounts that state - #followback 100%! Well, there are also other accounts that go through and follow hundreds, if not thousands, of accounts at a time. Once you follow, the account owner unfollows you.

My Answers to Common Author Interview Questions

1. What are your background interests/hobbies?

The only thing I’m doing right now is writing. I write professionally as a freelancer. I’m an author, and I write for my own website. That’s not to say I’ve never had any other interests, but right now the focus is 100% on all my writing endeavors.

2. How do they support/hinder your work?

The more you write, the more you can write. It’s like exercising. The more weights you lift, the more weight you can lift. It’s really about conditioning. Maybe today you can only write 500 words, but if you work at it, soon you’ll be up to 2,000 words a day then 3,000.

As a writer there are many challenges that can result in you losing focus and your ability to write along with it. Writers who are perfectly healthy may struggle with issues of mental clarity and writer's block caused by stress from worry over family issues, the Covid-19 pandemic, shortages at the groceries stores and even the political elections. However, there is a surefire and proven way for writers to deal with all the stresses of modern day life. Exercise.
