1. How did you land your Seneca in that rainstorm in Michigan?

Sideways.  Seriously, I thought Victor was going to piss his pants.  There was a ceiling of 500 feet and gusts to 30 knots.  The Seneca is equipped with GPS, long-range tanks, extra tanks and an auto pilot that can do everything but land the plane.  Once I plug in the coordinates, the plane pretty much flies itself.

2. Does your plane have onboard weather radar?

No.  There’s no point.  L won’t pay for it, and it doesn’t matter what the weather is, unless it’s a tropical storm or hurricane.  When the shit needs delivered, it needs delivered.  If I miss a drop, we lose money.

3. Is there ever a reason you won’t fly other than weather?

Duck tape solves most problems, but the mechanics will ground my plane on occasion for extensive damage.  Usually caused by the Sanchez.  I crashed so hard one time, they grounded me for six weeks due to a head injury.

1. WHAT IS THUNDERSTORMS AND .45S – 2018 AVIA VERSION

Thunderstorms and .45s is a low-key thriller novel set in 2005. The story takes place in Grand Rapid’s, Michigan. Main characters Avia and Benton are trying to earn some fast cash by scamming a rich socialite out of her money. The story takes a turn for the worse, when the socialite gets into a car wreck and finds out her money is gone. In order to protect themselves, Avia and Benton must silence the woman before the entire deal goes bad.

These books are all about the adventures of a drug running pilot who also happens to be an addict. Right there you get the idea that this woman is not only flawed but searching for her path in life. No one starts into a career as a pilot, expecting to be a drug runner, but she has landed in that world. The author is not just asking us how she gets out of it. She is asking us how she can reconcile herself to her job and her reality.  

​2. THE HEIST AND CRIME ANGLE  

The obvious niche of this book is crime because it is illegal to fly a plane for a drug cartel, but the hero in these books is not perfect. The heist aspect comes in when you least expect it, and it causes you to think about how she will even go on living if she has to run afoul of the cartels.
